: 10 mins. Weekly market on Mondays, castle, museum, steam train, great shopping, bars & cafes

Thornton-le-Dale: 10 mins. Quaint village with stream, thatched cottages, famous ice-creams , sheep grazing in village, superb museum.

Goathland: 15 mins. Famous 'Aidensfield' village from TV series Heartbeat, good walks, steam train station.Pub/Hotel, cafes

Hutton-le-Hole: 18 mins. Moorland village with stream, grazing sheep, good pub, artists galleries, museum. good walks.

Scarborough – 40 mins. Beautiful beaches, surfers paradise, amusements, historic spa, castle, pier etc
Robin Hoods Bay, Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes are delightful and so diverse with many happy hours of exploring waiting for you.

Walking
For the walker this is the perfect venue, with 500 miles of tracks and footpaths leading from our door. From glorious rambles over heather clad moors, overlooking the stunning Newtondale Gorge and the steam train chugging along way beneath you, to shady walks through the nearby Dalby Forest. Catch the steam train to Goathland and walk back to get the best of both! What a treat!

Mountain Biking
This is the perfect venue for the cyclist!  With the advent of the amazing and diverse trails now opened in Dalby Forest there are numerous graded routes from basic to advanced including the recent World Cup route.  See our special offers.
